Twelve year old Johnny Maxwell can see the dead, who are nothing like he expected. They don't lurch about or push through walls, or dance. They're just post-senior citizens, and they're always in, until the council want to move them out so that they can sell the cemetery as a building site. However, they've learned a thing or two from Johnny, and they aren't going to take it lying down, especially as it's Halloween tomorrow. Besides, life is a lot more fun than when they were alive, especially if they break a few rules.
