Melanie Adams seems to have it all; a successful career as a TV documentary producer, two teenage daughters and a glamorous lifestyle which ties in with the complex life of a working single mother. All but one of her needs are met: there is no place for the man of her dreams. Then she meets Peter Hallam, famous heart surgeon, a widower whose children's lives have been disrupted by the recent death of his wife.
